Industrial Cellular Connectivity for Raspberry Pi

Launching 12 November 2025 — Availability end of 2025

Raspberry Pi has always been brilliant for edge computing, automation and prototyping. But if you’ve ever tried to use a Pi as a real field device, you’ll have battled with USB dongle modems, flimsy breakout boards and unreliable mobile connectivity.

Teltonika Networks – known worldwide for its industrial 4G/5G routers (RUT series) – is solving that problem.

Meet the Teltonika CALYX Pi Hat

The CALYX Pi Hat is Teltonika’s first Cellular Pi Hat modem, bringing proper industrial connectivity to Raspberry Pi projects without the usual DIY compromises.

Product name: Teltonika CALYX Pi Hat
Alternate term used in development: Teltonika Pi Hat Modem
Launch date: 13 November 2025
General availability: End of 2025

Why Teltonika entering the Pi Hat market matters

Teltonika isn’t a hobby brand.

They build:

  • RUT-series industrial routers (the ones seen on CCTV towers, EV chargers, SCADA, BMS, utilities)
  • TRB/TSW gateways and modems for mission-critical environments

The Teltonika CALYX Pi Hat brings that industrial reliability into the Raspberry Pi world — something no generic Pi cellular board has ever done well.

This is the first time Teltonika has released a Cellular Pi Hat, giving Pi-based projects the same connectivity pedigree as their industrial routers.

Who the Teltonika CALYX Pi Hat is designed for

  • CCTV / ANPR edge nodes on Pi
  • Compact control panels where a full router doesn’t fit
  • Proof-of-concept IoT devices that need to be deployable
  • SCADA / telemetry / environmental monitoring
  • Installer jobs where cellular must “just work”, not be experimental

If you currently run:

  • Teltonika RUT routers for infrastructure
  • Raspberry Pi for local logic

…the CALYX Pi Hat bridges those two worlds.

What we expect (pre-release)

Final spec drops on launch day, but Teltonika has hinted at:

  • 4G or 5G cellular modem variants
  • SIM + eSIM (eUICC) support — matching Teltonika’s IoT eSIM push
  • External antenna ports (proper RF design, not PCB meandering)
  • Full Pi HAT form factor — stack it and screw it down
  • Industrial firmware maturity, with Teltonika-style diagnostics

The Teltonika CALYX Pi Hat is not aiming at hobbyists.
It’s aiming at deployment.

Why CALYX?

In botany, the calyx protects the fruit while it develops.

Perfect symbolism.
The Teltonika CALYX Pi Hat protects your connectivity and gives the Pi a rugged, industrial-grade connection to the outside world.

Why installers and integrators will care

A Teltonika cellular module directly on a Raspberry Pi reduces:

  • Cabling failure points
  • USB dongle instability
  • Messy enclosures
  • Support overhead

It also means you can standardise on Teltonika hardware across full deployments.

RUT / TRB routers → CALYX Pi Hat → Raspberry Pi edge compute.

One brand. One ecosystem.

When can you get one?

  • Launch: 13 November 2025
  • Production availability: End of 2025
  • Expect limited early allocation (Teltonika typically stagger early runs)

If you deploy Teltonika routers already, the Teltonika Pi Hat gives you the missing smaller footprint option.

TL;DR — Teltonika CALYX Pi Hat
